Initiators

The Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava”, aiming to support children and their families during the Christmas season amidst the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, is launching a project to create a festive location on the Left Bank of Kyiv, near the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

Goal

Considering the full-scale russian aggression, which has deprived many children of parental warmth, a home, health, and the joys of childhood, our goal is to bring true joy to our children and families and restore their faith in goodness by creating a festive Christmas space.

Duration

From December 5, 2024, to January 6, 2025.

Objectives

  1. Prepare a space that will become the center of Christmas celebrations: set up decorations to create a warm and cozy atmosphere.

  2. Ensure safety and comfort by equipping a shelter for visitors, especially children.

  3. Organize Christmas performances, concerts, workshops, themed games, and interactive activities for children of various ages.

  4. Invite volunteers, actors, or musicians to create a vibrant program.

  5. Prepare souvenirs that children can either make themselves or receive as keepsakes of the event.

  6. Unite the local community, donors, businesses, and volunteers for the joint realization of the project.

  7. Conduct a fundraising campaign or collect items to support the event.

  8. Provide families participating in the festive space with opportunities to communicate, share experiences, and support one another.

  9. Engage clergy to organize the spiritual aspect of the celebrations.

  10. Promote knowledge of Ukrainian Christmas traditions to strengthen the cultural identity of children.

  • Families in challenging circumstances: large families, low-income families, and those displaced by the war.

  • Local residents seeking Christmas spirit and a festive atmosphere.
