With the Support of Korean Bishops, the UGCC Assists War-Affected People in Eastern Ukraine
May 8, 2026
These days, Father Lyubomyr Yavorskyi, the Patriarchal Economos of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Director of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava,” is conducting a visit to Eastern Ukraine. As part of his trip, he is visiting Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kamyanske, where he meets with UGCC parish communities and local residents affected by the russian war.

With the support of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea, food packages are being distributed to the parishes of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. This assistance is designed to support communities so they can share essential supplies with those in need and people living near the front line.
Father Lyubomyr is accompanied on this trip by Father Luca Bovio, the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Ukraine. The purpose of his visit is to get acquainted with the charitable projects and humanitarian initiatives implemented by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, as well as to personally converse with people who experience the consequences of war daily. Among the projects inspected are the “points of invincibility” (resilience hubs) and wound-healing centers in the front-line regions.
During the meetings, the priests have the opportunity to hear testimonials from local residents about their current needs and the challenges faced by communities in the front-line regions of Ukraine.
