UGCC parish community in Brovary continues to actively support residents of a modular town

In response to the consequences of the war and the wave of internally displaced persons seeking refuge from constant shelling, a modular IDP town was opened in Brovary on November 28, 2022. Today, the town’s residents are people who fled active hostilities, lost their homes, lived in the temporarily occupied territories, etc.

The first 35 IDPs moved in on the opening day, according to Alina Boyar, the head of the modular town. Most of them were pensioners. Now people of all ages, including children, live here.

“In total, the town is designed for 352 people, but this number of places is the maximum, and as long as it is possible, we try to make the IDPs as comfortable as possible. Public and religious organisations, international foundations, lawyers, psychologists, volunteers and concerned Brovary residents are actively involved in the town’s operation and adaptation to the new conditions — it is thanks to this collaboration that people feel comfortable in the town,” say journalists from the Brovary newspaper ‘Trybuna. Brovary’.

The parishioners and volunteers of the Three Saints Church of the UGCC, led by its rector, Father Oleh Panchyniak, were among the first to help the displaced. For almost two years, the communities have been working together in a quality and fruitful way to help people in need.

With the help of the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava and parish volunteers, residents of the modular town regularly receive humanitarian aid in the form of food packages, hot meals, clothing and medicines. This time, adult and children’s clothes and shoes were delivered to the IDPs, which were donated through the Slovak Government in August.

“In this difficult time for all of us, you are not just donating material goods but giving us hope that together we will overcome any challenges. I am very pleased for the volunteers who care about those who need help. Thank you once again for your care and participation, support and your sincere and sensitive hearts,” said the staff of the modular town in Brovary.
