UGCC establishes another Wounds Healing Center in Shchaslyve, Kyiv region
May 2, 2025
On April 1, 2025, the UGCC Wounds Healing Center launched in Shchaslyve, Kyiv region, offering a vital space for the spiritual and mental recovery of Ukrainians impacted by Russia’s ongoing war.
The Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” opened this center at the local Greek Catholic parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, with the support of numerous benefactors. This particular Center was established thanks to the international charitable organization “l’Œuvre d’Orient.”
“Today, it is precisely in the Church that we find our own resilience. It is there that we unite into one community, believing in Christ’s resurrection and the victory of our nation,” stated Father Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, Director of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava.”
The priest emphasized that as the war in Ukraine continues to inflict new wounds and destroy civilian infrastructure, the foundation is committed to supporting all those in need. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church’s expansion of its Wounds Healing Centers network demonstrates this commitment, offering spiritual, psychological, and humanitarian aid to everyone, regardless of their religious affiliation.
Father Hryhoriy Bereziuk, the local parish administrator, noted that work on the Center began a year ago. With its recent consecration, the new facility now allows the community to gather daily for prayer, worship, and fellowship.
“Children are running around us, and that is a great joy! Once, the late Patriarch Lubomyr Huzar said that when children don’t laugh and run around, and older people don’t cough, there’s no normal community. So here, everything is in order for you, and everything is developing well. I congratulate you on the new premises. May it serve for the growth of the community and our Church in general,” extended Father Ihor Shaban, Dean of the Brovary Proto-Presbyterate.
“So let us strive to do good, support one another, stand firm, and pray,” Father Lyubomyr urged.
The relocated center will serve as a chapel for parish services, and those in need can also receive psychological and spiritual support there.
