UGCC and “Posokh” Charitable Foundation unite in Brovary to help those in need
October 9, 2024
From September 15 to October 6, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, through the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” and the “Posokh” Charitable Foundation jointly held a charity event “Dress and Shoe with Love”. The organisation of this initiative was made possible thanks to the humanitarian aid that the church foundation received from the Slovak Government on 5 August 2024.
As Fr Oleh Panchyniak, pastor of the parish community of the Three Saints in Brovary, reports, cooperation with the charity foundation has been long-standing and always brings good results for those in need, as unity makes it possible to serve more.
This time, the “Posokh” Charitable Foundation arranged a place for comfortable distribution of clothing and footwear to internally displaced persons who were needy the most. Volunteers were involved in this action, giving each person their time and attention individually.
“The distribution took place in a different format from the usual one: people did not just pick up items on tables or in boxes on their own, but they had the opportunity to contact volunteer consultants who fully selected clothes and shoes according to the size chart and the request for the necessary items with the possibility of trying them on. That is why the effectiveness of this distribution was maximised: people were extremely happy and touched, some even had tears of gratitude,” says Maryna Pyankova, director of the Posokh Charitable Foundation and organiser of the distribution, in a commentary to the press service.
The organisers noted that the humanitarian aid included both large-sized clothes for men, which is so important, and clothes for schoolchildren. “Also, the items for children who have started the school year turned out to be extremely relevant: we had T-shirts, sneakers for physical education, shoes for school uniforms, and even swimwear for the pool.”
According to the organisers, the joint efforts helped to clothe and shoe 350 internally displaced people temporarily residing in Brovary and Brovary district. “People were happy, and our team was happy with them, because it is so nice to do good in unity! May the Lord bless you!” said the director of the “Posokh” Charitable Foundation in conclusion.
