On August 5, 2024, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Pavel Vizdal handed over humanitarian aid to the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava”.

The Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” received assistance from the Slovak government

“I am very pleased to be here today, to hand over Slovak humanitarian aid: things, clothes, equipment for hospitals, etc. This is aid from our Ministry of Internal Affairs worth more than 200 thousand euros. This is the second aid from Slovakia that will help people in need at least a little bit,” the ambassador emphasized during the meeting, as reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

The head of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava”, Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, said that the humanitarian aid consists of clothes for children and adults, medicines, and stretchers for evacuating the wounded. Now it will be sorted, and the aid will be distributed to those in need through the invincibility points of the church network and wound healing centres.

“We have already made a list of where the aid will go. These are Odesa, Mykolaiv, Beryslav, Kherson region, Kharkiv, Kyiv region, Sumy, Zviahel, and the ‘Okhmatdyt’ children’s hospital,” said Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy.

At the same time, the head of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” noted that the amount of aid received by Ukraine is gradually decreasing, “and it is so important that the hands of the church are not empty, and we have something to give to those in need.” “Thanks to this aid, we will see that the hands of our parishes will not be empty, because they will have something to give,” said Fr.

The cooperation with the Slovak government and this humanitarian aid was made possible by the efforts of the Pastoral Migration Department of the UGCC and Bishop Stepan Sus, head of this department.

Father Ihor Marusyn, pastor of the Parish of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bratislava, expressed his gratitude for this support. “This cooperation of the Slovak government is very important because it is directly with the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. At all meetings to which I am invited, I thank the entire Slovak people for their support and prayers. I remind them that the war is ongoing and ask for more help,” said Fr Ihor.

He noted that “The Slovak government’s long-term cooperation with ‘Mudra Sprava’ began before the war and intensified after the start of the full-scale invasion. There have already been many trucks of various kinds of humanitarian aid. Last year, we sent generators for the steadfastness points. We also sent clothes, shoes and stretchers. Now four trucks have arrived.”
