The Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” Handed Over Generators for the Podilskyi and Holosiivskyi Districts of Kyiv
February 6, 2026
The Patriarchal Foundation of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, “Mudra Sprava,” continues to provide vital assistance to the residents of Kyiv amid prolonged disruptions to electricity, heating, and water supply caused by mass Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

This latest phase of support was made possible thanks to the solidarity of the Polish people, who responded to the appeal of the Archbishop of Kraków, Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś, to hold a fundraising campaign to purchase generators and electric heaters for Ukraine. The collected funds have enabled the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church to consistently support the civilian population of the capital during this critical energy crisis.
On February 6, 2026, within the walls of the UGCC Patriarchal Center, another official handover of generators took place to meet the urgent needs of the capital’s Podilskyi and Holosiivskyi districts. The event was attended by Volodymyr Nakonechnyi, Head of the Podilskyi District State Administration in Kyiv; Sofiia Dunaievska, Head of the Holosiivskyi District State Administration in Kyiv; representatives of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava”; clergy; and invited guests.

During the meeting, the head of the Holosiivskyi district, Sofiia Dunaievska, emphasized how crucial this assistance is for securing the baseline needs of the district’s residents.
“Today, on the grounds of the Patriarchal Cathedral, we received aid in the form of generators and heating devices. This is an incredibly necessary line of support, as about 60 heating points operate within the Holosiivskyi district. People come there to warm up, charge their devices, and have a hot cup of tea. Furthermore, these generators will be distributed to kindergartens that continue to operate even during power and heating outages. We express our deepest gratitude to the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś for this assistance during such challenging times,” she noted.

Words of gratitude were also shared by Father Roman Ilnytskyi, a priest serving the Holosiivskyi district, who highlighted the scale of the challenge for the capital’s largest district by territory.
“As a priest of the Holosiivskyi district—the largest in Kyiv by land area—I want to say thank you for this critically important aid to our city, which faces constant shelling and subsequent blackouts. The provided generators and heaters are truly indispensable. We express our great respect and gratitude to the donors, the Polish people, and especially to the Archdiocese of Kraków,” said the priest.

Volodymyr Nakonechnyi, Head of the Podilskyi District State Administration, spoke in detail during his remarks about the journey of this aid package and the Church’s role in rapidly responding to the crisis.
“After the Russian strikes on our energy infrastructure, when Kyiv began facing mass blackouts and the city found itself in a kind of energy blockade, I reached out to a great friend of the Podilskyi district, Father Lyubomyr Yavorskyy. We quickly met with Fathers Lyubomyr and Yaroslav Valiukh, and my request for assistance was immediately conveyed to His Beatitude Sviatoslav. He, in turn, informed the Polish Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś about the critical situation in Kyiv,” the district head shared.
According to Volodymyr Nakonechnyi, the first shipment of aid was directed to the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, and subsequently to the Podilskyi district.
“I am sincerely grateful to the Polish people, our Polish brothers and sisters, and especially to Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś. I thank to the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, which always stands shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian people and is helping the capital stand resilient against this energy blockade today. We have received powerful generators for our main resilience centers based in educational institutions. Thousands of Kyiv residents will be able to find warmth there in the event of blackouts or disruptions to electricity, heating, or water supply,” he concluded.
The Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” continues to coordinate the humanitarian initiatives of the UGCC aimed at protecting and supporting the civilian population of Ukraine during the war, demonstrating the Church’s practical solidarity with those who need it most.
