Father Lubomyr Yavorskyy, Patriarchal Econome of the UGCC and Director of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava,” participated in the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on the induction of Bishop Mykola Bychok, Bishop of Melbourne, into the College of Cardinals.
The Divine Liturgy, led by Bishop Mykola Cardinal Bychok of Melbourne, with the participation of many clergy and guests from various parts of the Australian continent, took place in the Cathedral of the Holy Supreme Apostles Peter and Paul in Melbourne on Friday, February 14, 2025.
During the grand celebration, Father Lubomyr conveyed greetings to the Cardinal from the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
In addition, the priest had the opportunity to speak with Australian Catholic bishops, who recalled memorable moments of visiting Ukraine during its struggle for independence and identity against the Russian aggressor. Father Lubomyr expressed gratitude to them and their faithful for the closeness and constant support they show through various charitable actions and initiatives, continuous prayer for a just peace, and for conveying the truth about the suffering of the Ukrainian people.
“It is worth adding that it was thanks to this support from the Australian continent that the Patriarchal Foundation ‘Mudra Sprava’ was able to implement a large number of projects, including food packages and hygiene kits.
The visit of Fr. Lubomyr Yavorskyy to Australia began the day before, on February 13, and will last until February 25. According to the priest, “This is a time of visits and meetings. A time of sincere communication with our faithful in Australia in individual parishes of the Melbourne Eparchy and getting acquainted with their long-term and successful ministry.”
