The “Mudra Sprava” Foundation Launches a Study of Social Bakeries in the UGCC
April 24, 2026
The “Mudra Sprava” Patriarchal Foundation has announced the launch of a new project aimed at studying social bakeries and coffee shops as an effective model of social entrepreneurship within the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

The initiative aims to create a practical and clear roadmap for communities — from the formation of an idea to the launch of their own business. The foundation emphasizes that this involves combining financial sustainability with a social mission, which is an organic part of the Church’s activity.
As part of the project, a team of specialists is analysing the experience of already operating, successful social bakeries, developing practical recommendations and business models, and accompanying initiative groups that are currently at the planning stage of their own projects.
One of the practical steps was a working trip to Chortkiv, organized at the initiative of Father Anton Krushelnytskyi, eparchial econom. The delegation of the UGCC Consultation Center was led by Maryna Danyliv. During the visit, the participants discussed key aspects of creating a social enterprise — from the legal foundations to the substantive content of the activity.
Throughout the visit, the guests were accompanied by the Bishop of the Buchach Eparchy, Dmytro Hryhorak.

“We had a very meaningful meeting with Father Volodymyr, who shared plans for the development of the future bakery,” noted Maryna Danyliv.
The foundation expresses hope that the project will become not just another initiative, but an effective social space for communities — a place of work, development, and support. In the future, such models can serve as an example for other communities striving to develop social entrepreneurship.
