The “Good Samaritan” Point of Indomitability opened in Brovary
February 4, 2023
In Brovary, the “point of indomitability” “Good Samaritan” was opened and consecrated. It started working on the initiative of the Patriarchal Foundation “Wise Cause” thanks to the financial support of the Apostolic Exarchate in Germany and the Scandinavian countries. The point is at the parish of the Three Holy Hierarchs of the UGCC.
The priest also predicted that thanks to constant Internet access — the installed Starlink allows 190 simultaneous connections — the point will be in demand among schoolchildren and students. It is they who are suffering today in Brovary due to the lack of communication and the impossibility, for this reason, of acquiring knowledge and education.
The city authorities have promised to support the functioning of the point of indomitability.
“Today, our population needs exactly this: a place where you can gather, warm up, charge your gadgets, and access the Internet. It is very important that the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church is doing this, which today helps both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the ordinary population,” confirmed the mayor of Brovary Ihor Sapozhko.
As part of the “Good Samaritan” project, the point of indomitability is already the ninth in Ukraine. A total of twelve are planned. Today, similar points have appeared in Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Kyiv and other large cities. Next is the second stage of the project.
According to the Patriarchal Econome Fr. Lubomyr Yavorskyi, there are already a number of inquiries and requests from parishes of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the Luhansk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions regarding the possibility of building points of indomitability in their cities. “We launched another project for 12 more points of indomitability. It is obvious that our main mission is the pastoral ministry. But today, in these repetitive cycles of air raid alarms, trouble, and proximity of death during the war, at such a point people have the opportunity to meet, cheer themselves with warmth and kind words, eat, and recharge their gadgets in order to always stay in touch with relatives and loved ones. So this is another additional way of serving the Church,” said Fr. Lubomyr Yavorskyi.
