Residents of “Lastivka” modular town in Irpin left without Heath: Mudra Sprava organizes hot meals

January 14, 2026

Following the latest massive shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by the russian federation, the situation in Irpin remains critical. Due to significant damage to the power grid, the city is suffering from prolonged blackouts, which are particularly severe for modular towns that rely entirely on electricity.

Assistance during the blackout

On January 14, the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation delivered hot meals to the residents of the “Lastivka” modular town. Due to the lack of electricity, people were left not only without light but also without heat, as the heating systems in these dwellings are electric.

“The situation in the city is very difficult. The residents of ‘Lastivka’ are essentially living in the cold. What they need most right now is basic warmth and support,” the volunteers noted.

The situation in Irpin

The city is currently dealing with the aftermath of the russian federation’s recent attacks on the region’s energy system. Specialists are working to restore the lines; however, the power deficit has left entire neighbourhoods and social infrastructure facilities de-energized. For the residents of modular towns—most of whom lost their homes due to the war—this has become yet another ordeal.

Gratitude to benefactors

The organization of meals was made possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Patriarchal Foundation team, led by the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, and the Patriarchal econome of the UGCC, Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy.

The local community and volunteers express their sincere gratitude to all people of goodwill who, during this incredibly challenging time, are helping Ukrainians survive difficult life circumstances. Currently, the efforts of benefactors are focused on providing people with basic needs while restoration work on energy facilities continues.
