This programme is being implemented by the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” thanks to the support of the Renovabis Charitable Organisation. The reason for the visit was the third stage of the programme — a strategic session.

The sixty participants, including active community members, young people and representatives of local authorities, learnt how to create an effective community development strategy. To do this, they received many useful tools from the programme’s trainers and coordinator, Fr Lyubomyr Yavorskyy.

“Strategic planning, even in times like these, does not lose its relevance. It helps to clearly define the ultimate goal. Our goal is to create a prosperous community where everyone feels comfortable living and working. That is why we have gathered a team of residents, employees and village elders to develop project ideas for strategic documents of the hromada”, said Denys Korotenko, head of the Shyrokivska territorial community of Zaporizhzhia district, Zaporizhzhia region.

The participants of the strategic session also had time to work in teams, in particular, they were looking for the biggest feature of their home community, something that other communities do not have. The teams that worked in Shyroke determined that the Shyroke community is unique because it has a rich Mennonite heritage and access to water resources.

“We appreciate the initiative of the Patriarchal Foundation ‘Mudra Sprava’ for giving our residents the opportunity to gain useful knowledge and take a fresh look at our native community”, the participants of the session said on the official Facebook page of their Shyrokivska community.

Denys Korotenko also joined the words of gratitude, noting that the guests “helped with this mission and gave useful tools for working on the strategy”. He added “And as with any knowledge, I look forward to the soonest transition from theory to practice from all those who attended the training!”
