Rehabilitation Camp for Military Families in Zarvanytsia: Focusing on Family Support and Recovery
August 5, 2025
From August 11–21, 2025 the Zarvanytsia Mariinsky Spiritual Center will host a spiritual and psychological rehabilitation camp for military families, organized by the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” and the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the UGCC.
The uniqueness of this project lies in its family-oriented format. As psychologist Natalia Chorna notes, the program includes not only veterans, combatants, or those released from captivity, but also their loved ones. “War leaves a mark not only on the military—every family member goes through trials. Joint participation in the program helps to overcome communication barriers, restore trust, and support each other on the path to psychological recovery,” she says.
A significant part of the program is dedicated to team-building games, creative activities, and interactive exercises that help families feel like a single team again. Through play and shared experiences, participants learn to better understand each other, restore lost connection, and strengthen family relationships.
Special attention is given to art therapy. Music, drawing, aromatherapy, creating custom candles, and neurographic on T-shirts—these techniques become a safe space for expressing emotions, relieving internal tension, and discovering new resources within oneself.
According to the psychologist, the adaptation and recovery process is most effective within the family circle. “There is no need to separate veterans from their families—we invite them to come together: with wives, husbands, and children of any age. After all, rehabilitation is not just about recovering from trauma, but also about inner harmony and strong family bonds,” emphasizes Nataliya Chorna.
It is worth adding that this is not the first session of the spiritual and psychological rehabilitation camp, where Ukrainian families unite in a shared desire for healing, understanding, and love.
