Poltava: one more point of invincibility is already accepting people with their needs
January 18, 2024
On January 15, 2024, another “Good Samaritan” point of invincibility was opened and blessed in Poltava at the parish of All Saints of the Ukrainian people.
The “Good Samaritan” point of invincibility was set up as part of the Patriarchal Foundation’s Mudra Sprava project, which was launched in response to the shelling of critical infrastructure by Russian troops during the cold season. Throughout the winter of 2022–2023, the invaders thus tried to break the spirit of Ukrainians by depriving them of heat, electricity, light, and the ability to cook. The construction of these 25 points in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Odesa Exarchates and the Kyiv Archeparchy was made possible by the financial support of the Apostolic Exarchate for Ukrainians of the Byzantine Rite in Germany and Scandinavia, the International Charitable Organization Porticus and the Pontifical Organization “Aid to the Church in Need” (“Kirche in Not”).
On January 15, 2024, representatives of the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava — Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, Patriarchal Econom of the UGCC, and Fr Yaroslav Valyukh — arrived at the parish community of All Saints of the Ukrainian People in Poltava, which is led by Fr Volodymyr Rakovetskyy. As the church is under construction, there is a need to create space for effective pastoral and social ministry for the needy and displaced persons from the frontline areas. So, on this day, Fr. Lyubomyr served the order of the blessing of another point of invincibility.
“Together with the team of the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava we continue to serve our Ukrainian people to heal the wounds of war and transform Ukrainian society with values. This week, we are opening four new ‘Good Samaritan’ points of invincibility in the regions where there is the greatest need — Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Znamianka and Pokrovsk. At the same time, we share bread through food packages, kind words and support through communication, and hope through direct touching of the wounds caused by this cruel and unjustified Russian war. The enemy has not given up its efforts to break our resilience and spirit, and to do so, it has not neglected any means, depriving people of heating, electricity, water, communications, and the Internet. However, in our service we are much stronger, and with our unity we bring our victory closer. The Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Cause — the service heals!” commented on the event on his Facebook page Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy.
The “Good Samaritan” point of invincibility in Poltava was established with the financial support of the Porticus International Charitable Organization.
