Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava increases aid during cold spell in Irpin, Kyiv region

As noted by the head of the Foundation, Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, thousands of people—including the elderly, retirees, and internally displaced persons—found themselves in a situation where the lack of electricity meant they could neither heat their homes nor cook meals. In response to numerous appeals for help, the Church has increased its presence and support for those in need.

In cooperation with charitable organizations, the foundation has expanded its meal preparation capabilities and now distributes approximately 400 hot lunches daily across various locations in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

Special attention is being given to the residents of the “Lastivka” modular town in Irpin. At the local “Point of Invincibility,” the Foundation regularly provides hot meals. Given the harsh weather conditions, utility outages, and the inability of residents to cook for themselves, a decision was made to provide aid every weekday, rather than just a few times a week as previously scheduled. For the residents of this town alone, 200 hot lunches—consisting of both first and second courses—are delivered daily.

The clergy and volunteers of the UGCC parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Irpin, along with numerous benefactors, have joined this initiative. Organizers emphasize that in wartime conditions, such concrete gestures of solidarity help people not only to stay warm physically but also to feel supported and connected to others.

“When a home is cold and dark, a warm meal becomes more than just food; it is a sign of care, support, and hope,” emphasizes the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava.
