“Mudra Sprava” supports art therapy classes for children in the de-occupied regions of Kharkiv region
October 14, 2023
Thanks to the assistance of the Wise Cause Interaction Platform of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the German charity organization Aktion Hoffnung, volunteers of the St. Dimitry Catechetical-Pastoral Center, led by Bishop Ihor Isichenko, organize art therapy classes for children in de-occupied towns and villages in Kharkiv region.
On October 8, volunteers of St. Dimitry’s Catechetical-Pastoral Center, together with a specialist, visited the village of Savintsy, Izium district, to conduct art therapy for children. The villagers had been under Russian occupation for more than six months.
The organizers said, “children and their parents in the de-occupied territories learn to overcome their inner conflicts, anxiety, and fears through creativity.”
Thus, on October 13, 2023, the children’s art therapy continued in the village of Morozivka, Izium district. Children from the town, which survived the Russian occupation last year, came to meet with volunteers and a psychologist.
The project, which includes art therapy classes for children in the de-occupied regions of Kharkiv Oblast, is being launched in response to the call of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for pastoral support for victims of the Russian war against Ukraine and healing the wounds of war.
