Mudra Sprava in Lubny parish: cooperation to help those in need
October 11, 2024
On October 10, 2024, another batch of food packages from the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava thanks to the support of the CNEWA Charitable Organisation, was delivered to the local parish community of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lubny, Poltava region.
“We have once again received humanitarian aid in the form of food packages from the Mudra Sprava Charitable Foundation. This aid is aimed at supporting people affected by the war. So, we mainly distribute them to people who have just come from the war zone. Unfortunately, there are a lot of such people today. We do not forget about other people in need,” said Fr Vasyl Ulishak, the local parish priest.
The Mudra Sprava Charitable Foundation was founded by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Patriarch of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. It has many different areas of activity, including the establishment of ‘Points of Invincibility’, training programmes, rehabilitation programmes and providing people in need with hot meals, hygiene kits and food packages.
“This year, we have delivered more than 1,000 food packages to the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lubny. And for us, this is the only source from which we can help. I would like to thank the employees of this Foundation for their healthy cooperation and willingness to work to help those in need,” said Fr Vasyl Ulishak in conclusion.
At one time, Fr Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, director of the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava, emphasised that the foundation’s activities are now focused on the East of Ukraine. After all, church structures there — the exarchates of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church — are not yet fully developed, both in terms of infrastructure, material, and the number of priests. The priests who serve in these areas, he said, are ‘amazing people’. ‘Our task, like their local hierarchs, is to support them. When we support them and they see that the Church is behind them, they are ready to serve in that parish and live with even greater intensity. And not only to live, but also to die for his ministry, for this nation. I wonder what happens when we visit them and communicate with them, and we see that they don’t need much, they just need a little support. That’s why our projects are aimed at ensuring that the hands of our priests will be not empty, that the hands of our priests always had something to give, whether it was food packages, hygiene kits or some other assistance. And when that priest sees that the Church is supporting him, he does everything possible and impossible,’ he said.
Thus, the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava not only launches charitable initiatives to help those in need, but also creates a platform for interaction between various branches of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which actively develop social service and charitable activities for the benefit of the Ukrainian people.
