Military Families Use Neurographic Art on T-shirts for Rehabilitation

July 22, 2025

As part of a rehabilitation camp for military families in the Lviv region, a unique art therapy session took place: participants created neurographic drawings not on paper, as is typical, but on t-shirts. The event was organized by the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation and the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center with the support of the German charitable foundation “Kindermissionswerk.”

Each participant received a t-shirt and a set of acrylic markers as a gift. Using the neurographic technique, the families were able to not only express their creativity but also process their inner emotional experiences. During the drawing process, the lines combined symbolic resources, intersected, and smoothed sharp corners—serving as a metaphor for overcoming emotional tension and stress.

According to the psychologists, neurography is a powerful art therapy tool. It helps a person emerge from a state of anxiety, focus on internal resources, and improve the emotional connection between family members. Camp participants admitted that the process of creating the drawings became a moment of quiet, concentration, and inner stability for them.

“It wasn’t just about creativity; it was a deep personal experience. Now these t-shirts have not only aesthetic but also emotional value for us,” one of the participants shared.

Now, the families wear their unique t-shirts with pride—as a symbol of their own strength, mutual support, and a step toward inner healing.
