On September 5, 2024, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Pavel Vizdal met with the Director of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava” Fr Lyubomyr Yavorskyy to hand over humanitarian aid from his government.

Humanitarian aid from the Slovak Government arrived at distribution points

The humanitarian aid from the Slovak government consisted of over 1700 boxes of clothing and footwear for adults and children, over 1300 boxes of medical supplies, including stretchers for evacuating the wounded, and 4000 packages of blankets for surgical operations.

Immediately after sorting and packing, according to Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, the aid was sent in two main directions. Firstly, it was aimed at supporting medical institutions, and secondly, at those in need and those affected by the Russian war against Ukraine. The latter are receiving humanitarian aid through the invincibility points, wound healing centers and parish centers of the Charitable Foundation Caritas Ukraine.

During the first stage, which lasted from August to September, the team of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava”, with the support of the UGCC Logistics Center and postal delivery, sent humanitarian aid to the points of further distribution. Among them are medical institutions — the National Cancer Institute, Vyshhorod Central District Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1, as well as parish centers for social assistance — the parish of the Martyrs of Maccabees in Beryslav, Caritas Fastiv, Caritas Berdychiv, Caritas Kharkiv, Caritas Zhytomyr, Caritas Chernihiv, Caritas Sumy, and other charitable organizations such as “Rubizh 4.5.0”, “Volunteers of Uzhhorod”, “St. Olga Foundation”, and “Yuriy Shchotkin Charitable Foundation”.

In August, thanks to the UGCC Logistics Center headed by Fr. Oleh Panchyniak, humanitarian aid was delivered to the parish community of the Martyrs of Maccabees in Beryslav, Kherson region. The volunteers distributed the aid on September 5, marking the International Day of Philanthropy.

“Charity Day is not just one day a year that has been declared international. It is every day of every volunteer’s work! The charitable deeds of all donors are appreciated every day!” the parishioners wrote on their Facebook page.

On September 2, Caritas Berdychiv received humanitarian aid for the needy and internally displaced persons.

On September 3, a vehicle of the UGCC Logistics Center delivered humanitarian aid for further distribution in Sumy. The local Caritas center, headed by Fr. Oleksandr Diadia, immediately began sorting the aid and preparing for its distribution.

On September 5, the humanitarian aid was delivered to another Caritas branch in Vinnytsia. Father Vasyl Komarnytskyi handed it over to those who had found temporary shelter in the Vinnytsia region.

“We received a cargo of humanitarian aid for Vinnytsia region. I am sincerely grateful to ‘Mudra Sprava’ for their assistance in social service!” said the priest.

“In times of war, help in the form of things is extremely relevant and much needed. There are many IDPs, families in difficult life circumstances, low-income and large families in Fastiv who need clothes, food, hygiene and the most necessities. Families who have fled their homes and have found shelter in our city are extremely grateful for the care and concern for their families. Thanks to the Patriarchal Foundation ‘Wise Cause’, those in need have received everything they need!” said Fr. Vitaliy Martsyniuk, director of Caritas Fastiv, in a letter of gratitude.

On September 9, the humanitarian aid from the Slovak government was handed over to Caritas Kharkiv and Caritas Chernihiv through the efforts of the Patriarchal Foundation “Mudra Sprava”.

Now each of the distribution points is actively preparing to distribute the humanitarian aid to people in need.
