“HR as a strategic business partner”: Pidhorodne community learns HR fundamentals
May 24, 2025
The second training module of the “Action in Hope” mini-MBA program for the Pidhorodne community began with an introduction to Human Resources (HR) management fundamentals. Liliia Cherniak, an expert and HR consultant, conducted the training for public figures and representatives from business and government.
“It was truly a day filled with genuine emotions from productive work with a group of entrepreneurs from Pidhorodne, Dnipropetrovsk region,” noted Liliia Cherniak.
The module covered key HR topics, including:
- The evolution of HR in both Western countries and Ukraine.
- Strategic planning, specifically human asset management.
- The human asset management system and its various stages.
- Job analysis, competencies, and crafting job profiles.
- Personnel selection, including effective hiring technologies, key success factors, and systematic approaches to filling vacancies amid talent shortages.
- Defining and understanding employee satisfaction, loyalty, and engagement.
- Employee engagement as a driver of business effectiveness.
- Fundamentals of motivation and HR management.
Liliia explained her goal as an HR consultant was to give participants a comprehensive understanding of the HR function, highlighting the value of systematic HR process management for businesses. She aimed to equip them with practical tools to implement structured HR management, moving beyond “chaotic manual control.” Critically, given Ukraine’s current labour market, a significant focus was on creating a competitive advantage through effective HR management despite the acute talent shortage.
Participants reported a clear understanding: in a talent-scarce market, success belongs to companies that can effectively attract, retain, and leverage their workforce. They noted the program offered not just practical tools, but also a new business philosophy where personnel is the key competitive advantage, especially crucial given Ukraine’s current economic climate.
“I’m grateful to the organizers for including me in such a significant program,” concluded HR consultant Liliia Cherniak. “And I thank all the participants for their active engagement and cooperative spirit.”
We remind you that this was just the first training day of the second module for representatives of the Pidhorodne community. Over the next two days, they will have the opportunity to learn a lot of useful information about grant and project management from Maryana Kashchak.
