The Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, expressed his gratitude to all people of goodwill who pray for Ukraine daily in Australian churches and support the Ukrainian people during this time of war. He shared these remarks in his traditional video message during the 200th week of the russian federation’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

“200 weeks of daily bombings, mass killings of civilians, and the abduction of Ukrainian children. But at the same time, it has been 200 weeks of the Ukrainian people’s unbreakable resistance and the struggle for freedom and independence,” emphasized the Primate of the UGCC, as noted by the UGCC Information Department.

This week, sessions of the Permanent Synod of Bishops of the UGCC were held in Australia, specifically in Melbourne and Canberra. During the visit, members of the Synod met with representatives of the Australian government, the Catholic Church, as well as Ukrainian communities, parishes, and church institutions.

“Everywhere we went, we felt sincere support for Ukraine. Australia, and specifically the Catholic Church in this country, is showing a readiness to join in helping the Ukrainian people,” stated His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

According to him, special attention was paid to the humanitarian ministry of the UGCC. During the meetings, positive feedback was repeatedly expressed regarding the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation as an effective and transparent tool for providing aid to the most vulnerable people in Ukraine.

“We constantly emphasized that, according to UN data, 12.5 million Ukrainians are currently in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. International institutions can only cover a portion of these needs; therefore, the responsibility to help the rest falls on the shoulders of believers worldwide. This is precisely where the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation plays an extremely important role,” underlined the Head of the UGCC.

The Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation continues to unite benefactors from various countries around the world to support the humanitarian initiatives of the UGCC and provide aid to those suffering most from the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
