“For our military, who celebrate the Resurrection of Christ at the front, this is an opportunity to feel holiness in the most difficult conditions, where death tries to take away both the heart and the future,” emphasized the Primate, as reported by the UGCC Department of Information.

Fr. Lyubomyr Yavorskyy, Econom of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC, notes that the tradition of preparing Easter baskets for soldiers was initiated back in 2014, when he served as the chief military chaplain.

“Today, I continue this initiative through the ‘Mudra Sprava’ Patriarchal Foundation, so that the blessed gifts, with the blessing of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, reach our defenders. I sincerely thank the chaplains, particularly Fr. Rostyslav Vysochan, who deliver this support to the frontlines. Special thanks go to our partners — ‘Halytska Svizhyna’, and especially to Taras Lysyi, for their cooperation,” he added.

Oleksandr Vovkotecha, Chief of the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shared that military chaplains, together with the command, travel to the East to support the defenders, providing them with the opportunity to confess, receive Holy Communion, and taste Easter dishes.

“The feast of Easter symbolizes the victory of life over death and light over darkness. Together with various churches and religious organizations, we strive to pass our Easter treats to those defending Ukraine on the frontlines. We hope that the feast of the Resurrection of Christ will become a symbol of the victory of life over death, light over darkness, and the victory of Ukraine,” added Fr. Rostyslav, chief specialist of the department for military chaplains’ training.
