Family Rehabilitation: Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation Helps Find the Way Home After the War

In a cozy space free from explosions and sirens, where children’s laughter and prayers can be heard, the second session of a rehabilitation program for Ukraine’s defenders is underway. These heroes have endured captivity and combat injuries and are now returning to life.

Family Rehabilitation: Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation Helps Find the Way Home After the War

The camp hosts 15 families from various regions of Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, and Kirovohrad oblasts. These are brave defenders with their wives and children. The large number of children actively participating in the program is especially touching.

The rehabilitation is conducted under the spiritual guidance of Father Vasyl Kinakh and with the support of experienced psychologists Tetiana Kril and Natalia Chorna. The program is implemented by the UGCC Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation with the assistance of the German charity organization “Die Sternsinger.”

Psychologist Tetiana Kril describes the essence of this work:

“Family rehabilitation is a path home not only for the soldier but for the entire family. The war changes everyone. And when a warrior returns, they often encounter not only a changed country but also a changed family. This is normal. But it’s important not to leave these changes unaddressed.”

The program includes art therapy, joint meetings, deep psychological work, family practices, prayers, and time for sincere communication. Its goal is to help families reconnect and learn to live after the front, preserving their love and closeness.

“This is not just about psychology. It’s about life after the war. And about how not to lose each other in the shadow of great pain,” adds Tetiana Kril.

The project’s specialists emphasize that there must be more such initiatives, because every family that has endured the trials of war deserves support, care, and a chance for a new life.

“Behind every hero stands a family. And the family is the home front that holds love, hope, and the strength to live on.”

The large number of children at this session is especially touching—they are not just witnesses but partners in healing. This isn’t just a place where psychologists work—it’s a place where hope is given, and hearts and faith are invested in the strength of the Ukrainian family.
