On February 15, 2024, Monsignor Pascal Gollnisch, President of the French Charitable Foundation “l’Œuvre d’Orient” and his secretary, Jean-Michel Coulot, visited the Zelenodolsk community.
The guests were accompanied by Bishop Maksym Ryabukha, Auxiliary Bishop of the Donetsk Exarchate of the UGCC, Fr Lubomyr Yavorsky, Patriarchal Econome of the UGCC and head of the Patriarchal Foundation Mudra Sprava, Fr Volodymyr Malchyn, Fr Roman Vovk, Fr Sviatoslav Rozlutsky, and Fr Ivan Talaylo, Director of the Caritas Kryvyi Rih UGCC.
During the meeting with the mayor, Dmytro Nevesely, and the council secretary, Olha Tsytsyura, they focused on the life of the community during the war and possible joint initiatives and projects.
“In France, we know the situation in Ukraine very well. Every day we follow news and look forward to hearing about the heroic resistance of Ukrainians. We know that the Ukrainian people want peace, but peace with victory. It was extremely important for us to come to Ukraine to understand how we can continue to help the Ukrainian people. We wanted to see the specific situation on the ground. This is our first visit to you, but it will not be the last. And we know that the struggle of the Ukrainian people is for freedom and very concrete values, the greatest of which is the dignity of human life. In fact, the entire European continent is fighting today, and we must be grateful to the Ukrainian people who are at the forefront of this struggle. We want to help the Ukrainian people with all our hearts, and we have the means to do so. Thank you for your hospitality and the moving meeting,” said Monsignor Pascal Gollnisch.
“Your support is extremely important to us. We believe that today’s meeting will be the beginning of an effective long-term cooperation. Together we must provide a reliable rear for the families of the military, help people overcome the consequences and traumas of the war, and inspire them to believe that life goes on and we are with them,” said Mayor Dmytro Nevesely in response.
