Since the beginning of the russian federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent shelling of cities, approximately 90 % of the buildings in Northern Saltivka have sustained damage. Russian forces continue to attack the city with missiles (including Iskander types) and GABs (guided aerial bombs). Even in the first days of January 2026, strikes were recorded in the suburbs and urban areas, causing further damage to civilian infrastructure.

Despite the risks, a significant number of people have returned to their homes. The district is fully supplied with water, heating, and electricity, although emergency repairs occur regularly due to shelling. Supermarkets (including the ATB chain), pharmacies, small cafes, and markets remain operational.

However, local residents—particularly the elderly—are in dire need of assistance. Therefore, Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets distributed food packages from the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation to the elderly and people with disabilities.

Despite the stabilization of utility services and infrastructure, the residents of Saltivka continue to live under high-risk conditions and require external support. The activities of the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation are aimed at meeting the basic needs of those who cannot independently provide themselves with food during the war.

The food packages project of the Mudra Sprava Patriarchal Foundation is a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting the most vulnerable populations in Ukraine during the war. Assistance is provided to internally displaced persons, residents of frontline and de-occupied territories, large and low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

A standard food package, weighing between 8.5 and 11 kg, contains 13–15 long-shelf-life items and covers the basic nutritional needs of two people for one week. All products are purchased exclusively from Ukrainian manufacturers. The project’s logistics center is located in Lviv, where packages assembled by volunteers are dispatched to the most affected regions. In addition to material aid, the project provides spiritual and psychological support to recipients through parish centers and the UGCC Consulting Center.
